Note: If you cannot see the video, install Macromedia Flash Player 8 and return to this page.
Eric Escobar, a 24p filmmaker who has been accepted at Sundance twice, discusses why an independent filmmaker producing short films should consider a film out for submission to film festivals. He discusses how films get shown at festivals, the acceptance process and why shooting on 24p and fininishing on film is an advantage.
He also discusses:
- How he did film out tests, what he learned from it, and how he made adjustments
- How shot on the Varicam and color corrected using After Effects and eLin
- The Cineon file format and how he did a complete Digital Intermediate process on his computer
- Some things to avoid when shooting DV for a film out
- How he made the most of the Varicam's native 960 × 720 resolution for a film out
This is small clip from five interviews with narrative, corporate video, and documentary filmmakers working in 24p. Full length interviews are on the DVD that is included with my book, Producing 24p Video, which is to be published under CMP's DV Expert Series.
